Health, Rx, and Dental Insurance -GLMC offers three different benefit structures through our Health Plan. Employees have the option to purchase dental insurance for themselves and their families. Employees who work for five continuous years in a full-time position for GLMC are eligible for reduced price dental insurance after they meet the service requirement.

 

Life Insurance - Life insurance is paid by the hospital at 1 times the employee’s annual salary.

 

Retirement Program - As part of the Public Employees Retirement System of Mississippi, full-time employees and part-time employees averaging 20 hours a week are covered by this system.  Participation begins upon employment.  A percentage of the retirement plan is paid by the hospital, 11.80 percent of employees’ annual salary.  Employees pay 7.25 percent of their annual salary.

 

Social Security -Taxation is done by hospital with matching funds from hospital for social security.  The hospital matches 7.65 of social security.

 

Credit Union - Payroll deductions for loans, savings accounts, Christmas Club membership are offered through USAS Federal Credit Union.

 

Vacation - With supervisory approval, accrued vacation can be used at any time.  All full-time employees receive 80 hours of paid vacation after one year of service.  This increases with years of service.

 

Sick Leave - In the event of illness or injury, employees may be granted reasonable time off.  All full-time employees receive 80 hours of paid sick leave after one year of service.  An employee can accrue up to 480 hours and can be paid for 80 hours of sick leave at the rate of .25 cents/1 dollar after reaching maximum.

 

Holidays - There are seven scheduled holidays each year: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Employees become eligible for these to hit their holiday banks the first of the month following completion of their thirtieth day of regular full-time employment. Holiday hours (paid at 8 regular hours) hit holiday banks approximately six weeks prior to the actual holiday. Holidays not used by September 30Th of each year are deleted from employees’ holiday banks.

 

Education Assistance Program - For those individuals, who qualify, the hospital offers the Education Assistance Program.  The program covers the cost of books, tuition and fees and allows up to $250 per semester stipend.

 

Continuing Education - Workshops related to your assigned area can be paid for by the hospital.

 

Miscellaneous Benefits - Other benefits of value to you but not included in the above are:  Section 125 (Cafeteria) Plan (optional), Valic (optional), Deferred Compensation (optional), Long-term and Short-term Disability Insurance (optional), Discounted rates in hospital cafeteria, and Free parking.
