Each year Grenada Lake Medical Center helps to build a healthier Grenada by sponsoring several events for the community and businesses and industries in the service area. At certain times during the year, area residents can take advantage of a variety of reduced price or free health screenings. These screenings include, but are not limited to: Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Glucose, Skin Cancer, and Prostate. The screenings are usually scheduled to coincide with the national emphasis on these health topics. For example, reduced price mammograms are offered in October to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month. GLMC also strives to promote community health and awareness by offering Heartsaver CPR and First Aid classes several times during the year. To learn more about free or reduced price screenings, or CPR and First Aid, please contact Kim Sellars, of the Human Resource Department.
GLMC also sponsors a Diabetes Support Group that meets every month for lunch at the hospital. The group discusses topics pertinent to today’s diabetic. For more information on this group contact Dacia Kilgore, GLMC Registered Dietician.
